MS Dhoni special connection with August 15, Why his Incredible Journey In International Cricket ended on this day?

The World Cup-winning captain MS Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket on this day in 2020. ICC Men’s T20 World Cup champion in 2007, ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup champion in 2011, and ICC Champions Trophy champion in 2013, Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15 of 2020.

On August 15, 2020, Dhoni posted a photo to Instagram with the caption, “Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout. From 19:29 hrs consider me as Retired.”

The famous song “Mai Pal Do Pal Ka Shayar Hu” from Amitabh Bachchan’s “Kabhie Kabhie” was playing in the background of the video. Dhoni shared his incredible experience playing for India, including run out from the final match against New Zealand in the World Cup semifinal of 2019.

The captain of the Chennai Super Kings, however, had another reason for choosing this day to end his playing career.

Sakshi Dhoni, the wife of MS Dhoni, revealed in an Instagram story on Tuesday the special significance of Independence Day for the former India wicketkeeper. On this day, Devaki Devi, MS Dhoni’s mother, also celebrates her birthday. Sakshi celebrated her mother-in-law Devaki Devi on Tuesday by posting a few pictures.

On July 7, 1981, Paan Singh Dhoni and Devaki Devi welcomed MS Dhoni into the world. In a family of three, Mahi is the youngest. He has two siblings, Jayanti Gupta and Narendra Singh Dhoni.

Devaki Devi, a housewife from Ranchi who has lived there her entire life, prefers to live a quiet life in the background. MS Dhoni is still the captain of the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL), despite of he has not played for India in three years. Ahead of his 42nd birthday earlier this month, Dhoni led CSK to an unprecedented sixth IPL 2023 title.

Dhoni has been successful all-rounder with excellent finishing skills in limited-overs cricket and smart work behind the stumps. In his 350 ODI matches, Dhoni’s highest score was 183 against Sri Lanka. He is still the only captain to have taken home every significant ICC trophy.

Dhoni is renowned for his composure and superb leadership on the field. India made many breakthroughs thanks to his expertise behind the stumps. Many have jokingly suggested that the “Decision-Review System” be renamed the “Dhoni-Review System” due to his talent and cricketing intelligence. India was able to top the Test cricket rankings while Dhoni served as captain. In 2023, the popular 42-year-old player helped the Chennai Super Kings win their fifth IPL championship.
