Ravichandran Ashwin’s outstanding performance: India defeats West Indies in 1 test match by an inning

In first test match against West Indies, Ravichandran Ashwin stood out by his spectacular performance. He took 12 of those 20 wickets in the match.

After scoring 150 in their first innings, West Indies found it difficult to withstand India’s bowling attack and were dismissed for 130 runs in under 51 overs where Ashwin demonstrated his expertise on a turning pitch by recording impressive figures of 7-71 in the second innings and 12-131 overall.

The third day’s pitch at Dominica’s Windsor Park proved to be very difficult for the West Indian batsmen. Even though Ashwin is known for his variety, he took a straightforward approach and let the pitch work its magic. He encouraged the batters from the West Indies to play forward, which led to LBW dismissals and chances for close-in fielders. As a result, the Chennai tweaker finished the innings with impressive figures of 7/71.

The Indian batsmen were also essential to their team’s victory. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, outperformed the entire West Indies squad with a brilliant 171-run performance, demonstrating extraordinary skill. He with Rohit Sharma, put together an impressive opening partnership of 229 runs, and later he increased his contribution by partnership of 110 runs with Virat Kohli.

Ashwin’s outstanding performance not only earned him the best stats by an Indian bowler overseas but also achieved his eighth 10-wicket haul in Test matches, showcasing his extraordinary talent.

After the outstanding performance, Ashwin expressed his emotions by saying, “This experience has been a special moment. I used to think about playing for my country when I was young. Although it is a very emotional time for me, this is only the beginning.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday congratulated spinner Ravichandran Ashwin on his 36th birthday, listing the star bowler`s achievements over the years and wishing him success in the future.
