Seema Deo: Veteran Actor Seema Deo passes away at the age of 83

Veteran actor Seema Deo, who appeared in movies including Anand, Koshish, and Kora Kagaz, passed away on August 24 at the age of 83. “Mum passed away earlier today,” her son, filmmaker Abhinay Deo, said in an interview with IndianExpress.com.

She had Alzheimer’s disease, but other than that, she was fine. With a tweet in 2020, Abhinay revealed the health status of his mother stating, “My mother Shrimati Seema Deo, doyen of Marathi film industry, is suffering from Alzheimer’s. The whole Deo family has been praying for her well-being, and we hope that everyone in Maharashtra, who adored her, will also do the same.”

In addition to her roles in multiple Hindi movies, Seema was a well-known performer in Marathi cinema. Her career included appearances in more than 80 motion pictures. Among her numerous Marathi credits are Jagachya Pathivar and Vardakshina. The Marathi movie Jivan Sandhya from 2021 was her last appearance.

Reports from 2017 stated that Seema owed her career to her mentor, Raja Paranjape. “Everything I could achieve in my career, it’s all because of my guru Raja Paranjape,” the woman declared at a Pune event. He not only trained me so hard that it felt very natural, but he also taught me how to act. Veteran actor Ramesh Deo, Seema’s husband, died in 2022 from a heart attack. Couple spent 59 years together after getting married in 1963. They shared two sons, actor Ajinkya Deo and director Abhinay Deo.
